
Internship
The National Complete Streets Coalition, a diverse coalition of prominent national organizations working for the adoption of complete streets policies across the country, will hire an intern for Spring 2009. This is an excellent opportunity for a student with an interest in transportation reform issues to learn about the field. Responsibilities will include:
- Research short fact sheets on the benefits of complete streets
- Assist in writing and disseminating the monthly newsletter
- Work on federal policy issues, including research and outreach Assist in organizing steering committee meetings
- Assist in maintaining web site
- General administrative tasks including mailing, event planning, etc.
Requirements: This position requires a self-motivated and detail-oriented person with excellent organizational skills. Candidates must have exemplary research and writing skills and an ability to synthesize diverse material. The candidate should be highly computer literate with specific experience in web research and using the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with, as well as strong interest in, smart growth and/or transportation issues is a plus. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.
Compensation and timeframe: Internship schedule and hours are flexible depending on the intern’s schedule, but we prefer interns to be available part-time for 10 weeks. While internships are unpaid, we are happy to explore fellowship or credit opportunities where applicable.
